Veteran-owned architecture and design firm Actus is the latest tenant to join the Defence and Space Landing Pad at South Australia’s Lot Fourteen innovation district.
Based in WA, Actus delivers tailored architectural, landscaping and interior design solutions for Defence and civilian clients. The company, which has supported Defence infrastructure projects nationwide, has expanded its footprint into South Australia to provide architectural services to key stakeholders within the state’s Defence industry.
“Adelaide is the heart of Australia’s defence industry and Actus is committed to making a lasting contribution here,” said Justin Cloney, Director of Operations at Actus.
“South Australia’s defence ecosystem is incredibly well developed, and the support we’ve received from organisations like Defence SA, Veterans SA and Lot Fourteen has been instrumental in making our expansion into Adelaide a success.”
With a strong commitment to employing veterans, Actus brings nearly 70 years of lived Defence experience and a unique insight into Defence environments to deliver architectural solutions for Defence clients.
Actus has launched its South Australian operations with a team of three highly-skilled architects and technicians, including a recent graduate from the University of South Australia.
The company plans to grow its team to 12 or more within the next 12–18 months, underpinning its commitment to supporting local veterans and the South Australian economy.
“We are deeply committed to achieving this through our premises in Adelaide, employing South Australians and creating opportunities for local enterprises,” Justin said.
Actus joins a dynamic community of innovators and defence and space organisations at Lot Fourteen. Its proximity to key stakeholders and access to collaborative networks presents a valuable opportunity to establish a long-term presence in the state.
“Lot Fourteen is perfectly situated in Adelaide’s CBD and serves as a vibrant hub for innovation,” Cloney added. “We look forward to playing an active role in this community and contributing to key Defence projects that shape Australia’s future security.”
“The Defence and Space Landing Pad is a highly developed innovation centre and is perfect for our needs. The opportunity to expand operations in a thriving technology-centric environment is an ideal start to our journey in South Australia.”
Defence SA CEO Matt Opie welcomed Actus to the Defence and Space Landing Pad.
“Actus’ decision to join the Landing Pad underscores their confidence in South Australia’s reputation as a hub for defence innovation and global and interstate investment.”
Managed by Defence SA, the Defence and Space Landing Pad supports overseas and interstate companies looking to establish a presence in the state by providing affordable, short-term office facilities and relationship building opportunities within Lot Fourteen.
